jer shared this first, but i feel i can get this out to a few folks his journal won't. contains spoilers for the wire, but it's worth it to read every fucking word anyway.

this article attempts to explain not just what the saints mean to new orleans, but what new orleans means to new orleans. it's hundreds of words expended and it still doesn't capture it perfectly, but, like the best new orleans articles, it comes close. it talks about a lot more than just the saints, and it doesn't just prattle on about mardi gras or bourbon street. it's not perfect, but it's still worth reading.

it also insults dallas, which i can get behind.

as dubious an honor as it is, i still have to give mad props to the stooges for being inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame. my hope is that at the televised induction concert, iggy and the surviving stooges are joined on stage by fellow 2010 inductees abba for a rousing medley of "your pretty face is going to hell"/"fernando."
